San Bernardino Sheriff's Department Force More Evacuations Thursday Due to Wildland Fires. (07132006 Knx TV 10).

These Fires are forcing so many people from there homes that it is scary for them, and for the people that are living in there homes wondering where these people are going to stay. It only makes you sad to wonder what is going to happen to the town of Pioneer town. evidently there was over 50 structures lost there and there is talk that this might get away from them tomorrow and go as far as Big Bear. There is over 18 years of growth in Big Bear that the Forestry is worried about. I tell you the dry brush and the heat that we are expected to have it is surprising that there is only this one fire. I Thank god that this is the only one for now.

The sheriff Thursday afternoon issued an immediate, mandatory evacuation notice for every home north of Highway 62 between Palo Verde and the Riverside County line.

Under the governor's order, state agencies are required to step up efforts to help fight the fire and the Office of Emergency Services will provide help to local agencies.

Officials say there is an immediate wildfire threat to the hundreds of homes in northern and western Morongo Valley. Previously, the evacuation was voluntary.

California's Department of Forestry is very concerned that two wildfires in the area will merge. The bigger of the two has already gutted 100 buildings and charred 40,000 acres. It's about five miles away from a much smaller wildfire burning in a forest. The fear is if they get together and expand from the high desert to the mountains it'll be far more devastating.

Fighting the fires is no easy task to begin with. But temperatures in the triple digits, plus strong winds blowing the flames, are only making matters worse.

More than 1,300 firefighters are focusing on the larger wildfire. Nine have been hurt, along with two civilians.
