Churches Plan to Act Against Youth Crimes (SB SUN 070706).

The more that get involved in 'The Operation Phoenix', the better, however the Churches have to organize their efforts through that of Kurt Wilson, The Newly appointed Director of Operation Phoenix. That way they will know where to concentrate their efforts more wisely, instead of just blind luck. Unless they are going to say that they don't believe in blind luck and go in with prayer and the word of the people that live in the neighborhoods. That would work too, but if they don't at least let the people of Operation Phoenix know what they are Finding out, then that Operation is just a joke and a political scam to keep the SB Mayor in Office, and Something this serious I think the mayor wants change and wants to work towards that change.
So it is better that they work together. They just seem to want to make an after school program, but they can find good information that would benefit the Phoenix program pretty good, it is word of mouth that makes Police Work: Work!!

Churches plan to act against youth crimes

SAN BERNARDINO - Churches of the Inland Empire will unite to make the strongest stand yet against youth violence, church officials said Thursday.Violence in San Bernardino this year alone has robbed the lives of seven young people, some by other youth.

"There's a huge cry for action," Pastor Victor Lewis told a group of people at Northpark Community Church who were working Thursday night on a new community mentorship program.

The as-yet-unnamed coalition, which was formed Wednesday, will bring faith leaders from all reaches to shepherd solutions, especially those that address the moral decline at the root of the problem, said Pastor Ray Turner of Temple Missionary Baptist Church.

"No one is able to speak to that better than the church. That has to be our priority," Turner said. "We can take 100 kids to a Lakers game, but if we bring them back to the same place they came from, all we've given them is an evening of entertainment."

By having a united front, the effort is concentrated and emphatic and doesn't repeat or fall through, said Lewis, who leads Empowerment Temple Christian Fellowship in San Bernardino.
A summit of church leaders is tentatively planned for August.

Meanwhile, the 18 people at Thursday night's meeting were moving forward on the Shepherd's Son Mentorship Program, a fast-tracked effort under Lewis' direction that will meet again next Thursday.
