Commercial Flights Could Go To San Bernardino

(AP) SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. Commercial airline traffic could touch down at San Bernardino International Airport within two years.

San Bernardino Mayor Pat Morris and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa discussed the air field's future as a prime location to take overflow from the crowded Los Angeles International Airport 70 miles away.

Morris said the discussion focused on the role San Bernardino International Airport might play as air travel increases
and as Los Angeles and Ontario International airports reach their limits.

The San Bernardino air field, once Norton Air Force Base, has long been touted by regional economists and civic leaders as a potential spring for renewed economic growth in San Bernardino and surrounding cities.

BSRanch Perspective:

There is one thing that I have to say and that is great. Morris is the best Mayor that San Bernardino has had in a great long time. He really is out to do some things for San Bernardino and getting it to grow, instead of talking of the crime situation all the time he looks for ways to end the Criminal Problem that San Bernardino has.

When they say that flights can Respectivly come in in two years, I beleive it and it would be great to book flights out of San Bernardino instead of Ontario, because it is closer to me then the original.

So, Mayor Morris, I am fully behind you and I support your every move to get the Airport under way. I just pray that the closure of the Rialto airport doesn't make problems for San Beranrdino, due to the increased flights that come in and the smaller planes need to land and they need a smaller airport to land them. But if they cannot allow that then

That would be bad, and then Ed Scott and Rep. Miller would have egg on their collar and the FAA would stand grinning and say I told you we were against the closure of that airport..
