Rialto Approves Police Cars (The Press Enterprise 08032006) The City is Getting Closer to Putting 29 New Vehicles on the Street!!

The Rialto City Council is more then likely behind with the purchase of Equipment for the Police Department, after spending over 5 Million or so on the Fire Department, and I might be low on the figure that I threw out for the Fire Department. But The mere, $360K that they have thrown in for equipment is a whole lot cheaper then the equipment for the Fire Department Again. I guess it is cheaper to keep the peace then it is to keep the Public Safe from Fire. However in 2003 we had such a blaze that we thought that we were going to go un in the blaze, but, there was more of BLM, and California Forestry that was fighting the fires around my house, and Rialto Police Department was the agency that was there to evacuate us when it was time, the Sheriff Department was not around, when they were supposed to be. I did see a deputy and a car parked on Sierra on the way up towards Lytle Creek.

Still, the Police Department was the one that was cut, why. Why the Police Department and not the Fire Department? The Fire department spends as much in over time as the Police Department, or was it because we had another Vote of No Confidence against the Chief of Police, I guess the Chief was dating the Elected McGee, and the City Administrator Garcia Loved him? I am puzzled why the Police Department and not the Fire Department?? I guess the cost of running the Police Department and they had gotten a Cost summery or presentation by the Sheriff as to how much he could or could not save the city on him running the law enforcement for the City.

What was sad was that the Police Department was Taking care of the city for over 70 - 75+ years, and they wanted to chop that off and start a new with a department that has proven lower standards of law enforcement, such as a lower Homicide Clearance Record, and the like. But that was okay with the Likes of the City Administrator Garcia. And everyone is well aware of Ed Scott's Law Suit against the city for unlawful detention, the one that has been sequestered until he is out of office, That would throw the City Council over as to hating the Police Department Sure. Ed Scott's still has a dislike for the Police Department for the Detainment that they did to back over 10 years ago now. He wanted to show them that he was going to close the Police Department and then have it run by the Sheriff Department,

Ed got all but one of the council members to follow him all the way to the other side of glory and the voted to get rid of the Police Department, if Rialto has any financial problems in the near future they have only themselves to blame with the way that they ran the city through the battle to rid themselves of the Police Department. They had everyone convinced that they were going to switched, but I never thought so, I only would nod my head and say I don't know what is going to happen, but in my heart I knew that we were going to win and the Police Department was going to win.

Garcia Ran the City like he had a open specked with the money when it came to the utility tax, and now that it has to be on the ballot again he is sweating bullets, I think it is great!! I don't believe that he is the Great book keeper that everyone says he is, IF that were the case then the city would not need the Tax by now it would run okay without it. See if the City could Operate without that Tax, then he would be a great manager, but since he cannot seem to run the city without this utility tax, then the City is ruined and they better pass it and make it a permanent thing, or the city will be in the toilet soon.

Furthermore the Council cannot or should not make any raises for themselves or the like, because that looks so bad, and they did when they passed the utility tax the first time didn't they. this was for Fire and Police, and all they got was Fire!!

Now it is time for them to get nothing but Police!! if it passes, If I was in Law Enforcement I would say not to back the law, because Garcia is a dope and should be let go, along with Owens, and Ed Scott, Whinnie Hanson, and Debra Robertson. All Fired, Pink Slips..gone!! Un-Employment!!

RIALTO - The city is getting closer to putting 29 new police vehicles on the street.

The Police Department expects to have the vehicles delivered from a dealer in the next three to nine months under a purchase approved by the City Council in June, records show.

In anticipation of their arrival, the council also approved the department's request for $354,140 to modify and add equipment to the cars Tuesday.

The vehicles will include 12 patrol cars, three K-9 units, four units for a team that patrols East Jackson Street, five administration vehicles, an animal-control truck, three traffic cars and a command vehicle.

The modifications include installation of mobile radios, modems and laptop computers, records show.

The council also approved Tuesday a $71,923 increase in the purchase price because the cost of three traffic cars was not included in the original price.

The council approved $612,902 of the purchase price in June. The total for the 29 vehicles is $684,825.

"It's a necessity to have police vehicles in good running shape for our Police Department, so this was necessary," Councilman Ed Scott said.

The final delivery of the vehicles, with the modifications, is estimated to take six to 12 months, records show.
