Reward offered in explosives theft in San Bernardino County

BIG BEAR CITY, Calif. A 25-thousand dollar reward is being offered for information about the theft of more than 500 pounds of explosives from a storage bunker near a gold mine in San Bernardino County.
A spokesman for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms says the big concern is who took the explosives and why.

The theft was reported on May third at Gold Mountain Mine Company about 90 miles east of Los Angeles. Associates of the mine owner found someone had broken into the explosives storage facility and 686 sticks of dynamite and a 30-pound bag of ammonium nitrate were missing.

The agency is investigating the theft with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and sharing information with the F-B-I's Joint Terrorism Task Force and U-S Forest Service.
