Rialto sending money to police department |
RIALTO - Rialto Police Department measures adopted the City Council on Tuesday include pumping $282,000 into new police vehicles and reorganizing the organization's top positions. The Council approved scrapping the deputy chief position, per Interim Chief Frank Scialdone's recommendation, to be replaced with two captains. Scialdone promptly promoted Lt. Tony Farrar, a longtime veteran, to fill one of the two captain positions. The persistent lack of an inked contract still hangs over the department, though. City Attorney Robert Owen said a contract will likely be signed next week. -- Robert Rogers, (909) 386-3891 |
