Decomposing Body Found in Trailer (Daily Bulletin 082306)

The circumstances surrounding this one seems a little bit suspicious, and there might be a homicide behind it. It will not surprise me that the owner or a friend that was staying in the trailer, with whom the trailer was loaned had killed the Gentlemen that was found in the unit, and fled, leaving the body to decomposition there while he is on the "lamb" (as they say in the 30's).
The whole case is to weird for me. I have read and heard of cases where the person has had a corpse in their home and they have had it there because they were in love with them and could not let them go to the other side, or at least they could not allow the departed shell of a body go from which they spent the time on earth. The other part was that there was a check of some sort that was like fixed income that was coming into a joint account that they could both get custody of, and they would allow the body to sit and get ripe for a few weeks while they collected a couple of checks, not to harm anyone just to make their life a little easier, cranking up the car and going to Jack in the box was just not enough.
This case is a totally weird one. They Victim in this case died in July and they cannot figure what was going on. He was reported missing, and was not collecting any kind of check from the company or anything, there was not ransom for the you, since they didn't take part in any payment of a ransom, since it didn't seem that there was a request for one. At least there isn't a request that has been made known to the public.
I guess this is a case that will have to be left to fester and come to the surface and we will figure out what happened to the victim. I hope that the death was peaceful and not at the hand of another, even if it was at the victims request, it just would not be fair to that of the people that are left to send flowers to and the like.

BLOOMINGTON -- The scent of a decomposing body still hangs in the air at the Log Cabin Motor Home Park in the 18000 block of Valley Boulevard.

The remains of a 47-year-old man were removed Monday from a trailer there by San Bernardino County sheriff's officials, who said the man was reported missing July 12.

"I had smelled something dead for a while," said Mike Lyons, 41, who lived north of the trailer where the body was found.

Residents of the motor home park said the man who died did not live there but was staying there with someone who owned a trailer.

Lyons identified the owner of the trailer as Kevin Roberts, 50, whom he describes as a quiet man who keeps to himself.

According to a statement from the Sheriff's Department, deputies discovered the body in an advanced state of decomposition, covered in several blankets.

"It smelled horrible. Me and a few other neighbors went to the management to complain," said Anna Rife, 20, who lived directly south of Roberts.

She, too, had smelled the body for a while, but thought it was a dead animal.

Rife said the police came to the motor home park in July and investigated the smell, but blamed it on sewage and trash that surrounded Roberts' trailer.

Almost a month later, deputies came back to the scene to dispose of the body. Finding it, however, only left them with more questions than answers.

Deputies learned that Roberts had asked for help from neighbors on Sunday to remove the body from the trailer and dispose of it in a nearby field.

Sheriff's officials speculate that the man was a friend of Roberts, but neighbors questioned the relationship between them.

Joe Murtalla, 35, lived south of Roberts' trailer and saw the man a few times leading up to his disappearance.

"I saw the man staying for about three weeks, but he did not live there," he said.

When the wind picked up, Murtalla said he could smell something bad, but other than that, he had no reason to question his neighbor.

After Murtalla realized what had happened, he said he wondered how Roberts had dealt with the body for so long.

"It gets hot over here; I can't imagine what it would be like in his place," Murtalla said.

Investigators believe the man died in early July inside the trailer. San Bernardino County Coroner's officials will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
