FONTANA - A carjacking suspect that police had been searching for the past week, was captured late Thursday following a car chase from San Bernardino to Rialto.
James Raye, 28, of Fontana, was identified by police as the suspect in a Sept. 23 carjacking. He and another man approached a driver on Palmetto Avenue, north of Base Line Road, at 8:43 p.m.
They held the driver at gunpoint and then took his 2005 GMC pickup, Fontana police Sgt. Bob Ratcliffe said.
Multiple Enforcement Team of the Fontana police department, working with San Bernardino police, tracked down the man on Broadmoor Boulevard in San Bernardino about 6 p.m. Thursday.
The man sped away in a car and drove to Rialto, where he crashed near the corner of Lilac Avenue and Casmalia Street. It was unknown if any other drivers were involved in the crash.
The man jumped out of the car and ran, but was captured by officers. He was arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center on suspicion of carjacking and evading arrest, Ratcliffe said.

BSRanch Perspective:
Just a note from this writer to say that the FONTANA POLICE, San Bernardino Police, Rialto Police and San Bernardino Sheriff's Department all did a great job on this Pursuit, and capture of this suspect without hurting anyone, that is a job well done and they should get the recognition that they deserve!!
GREAT JOB!!
